Mariel Ruvinsky

Proud cat mom of the chonkiest hooligan
Mariel is an English Linguistics and Literature graduate who definitely thought she would be writing about animal memes for life. She loves writing, spearmint tea, white chocolate with a zesty lime filling, but more than anything, she loves cats. Especially her chonky 10-year-old kitty who bites her real hard only because that’s her love language. Mariel is known for hugging everyone in the office and for showing pictures of said cat’s fluffy belly to literally anyone who is willing to look. Internet culture has always been a part of Mariel’s life. She has known Cheezburger years before joining the writing teams at ICanHasCheezburger and Animal Comedy, and working in this company is something she openly brags about, because anyone who understands anything about the internet thinks it’s really cool. Because it is. And those who don’t get it are seriously missing out. Memes, to Mariel, are a way to express love and friendship, and if she hasn’t sent a meme to her best friend and boyfriend at least once a week, is she really communicating properly?
